Everything seems much more real in darkness. Random noises all have bodies, monster bodies with sharp claws and sharper teeth. Creaking doors have someone hiding behind them, waiting for their chance to murder you. Thunder is a big boulder rolling towards you that will surely flatten you. But what about the thoughts you have?
Imagining a scenario in your head, while lying down in the darkness, has a completely different effect to imagining the same scenario during the day. A scenario by darkness is entirely probable, yet is stupid in the light. During night I can give myself chills, or make myself sweat profusely, during the day I cannot. And I wonder, is this what it’s like for blind people?
